Introduction:
The culinary world is vast and diverse, offering a plethora of flavors and textures that can transform simple ingredients into extraordinary dishes. Among these, the combination of mushrooms and fennel stands out as a delightful pairing that brings together earthy richness and aromatic freshness. This article delves into the characteristics of mushrooms and fennel, their nutritional benefits, and how they can be harmoniously combined to create a delectable dish.

Mushrooms: Earthy and Versatile
Mushrooms are a staple in many cuisines around the world, celebrated for their umami flavor and versatility. They come in various types, including button, cremini, shiitake, and portobello, each offering a unique taste and texture. Mushrooms are low in calories but rich in essential nutrients such as B vitamins, selenium, and antioxidants. Their meaty texture makes them an excellent substitute for meat in vegetarian and vegan dishes.

Fennel: Aromatic and Refreshing
Fennel is a flowering plant species in the carrot family, known for its aromatic seeds and bulb. The bulb, stalks, and fronds of fennel are all edible, each contributing a distinct flavor to dishes. Fennel has a mild anise or licorice-like taste, which adds a refreshing and slightly sweet note to recipes. It is a good source of vitamin C, fiber, and potassium, making it a nutritious addition to any meal.

The Perfect Pairing: Mushroom and Fennel Dish
When combined, mushrooms and fennel create a harmonious balance of flavors. The earthiness of mushrooms complements the aromatic freshness of fennel, resulting in a dish that is both comforting and invigorating. This pairing can be used in a variety of culinary creations, from simple sautés to elaborate casseroles.

Recipe: Sautéed Mushroom and Fennel
Ingredients:
– 2 cups of mixed mushrooms (such as cremini and shiitake), sliced

4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
5. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Conclusion:
A mushroom and fennel dish is a testament to the beauty of simple ingredients coming together to create something extraordinary. Whether you’re a seasoned chef or a home cook, this pairing offers endless possibilities for culinary exploration. Pan-Fried Tempeh Balls with Ponzu Sauce

**Pan-Fried Tempeh Balls with Ponzu Sauce: A Delicious and Nutritious Delight**

Tempeh, a traditional Indonesian soy product, has gained popularity worldwide due to its rich nutritional profile and versatility in culinary applications. Made from fermented soybeans, tempeh is a powerhouse of protein, fiber, and essential nutrients, making it an excellent choice for vegetarians, vegans, and anyone looking to incorporate more plant-based foods into their diet. One delightful way to enjoy tempeh is by preparing pan-fried tempeh balls, paired with a tangy and savory ponzu sauce.

**The Nutritional Benefits of Tempeh**

Tempeh is renowned for its high protein content, providing all the essential amino acids needed for muscle repair and growth. It is also a good source of dietary fiber, which aids in digestion and promotes a feeling of fullness. Additionally, tempeh is rich in vitamins and minerals, including calcium, iron, magnesium, and B vitamins, contributing to overall health and wellness.

**Ingredients for Pan-Fried Tempeh Balls**

To make pan-fried tempeh balls, you will need the following ingredients:

– 1 block of tempeh (about 8 ounces)
– 2 tablespoons soy sauce
– 1 tablespoon sesame oil
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
– 1 tablespoon green onions, finely chopped
– 1 tablespoon cornstarch
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Oil for frying

**For the Ponzu Sauce:**

– 1/4 cup soy sauce
– 2 tablespoons lemon juice
– 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
– 1 tablespoon mirin (sweet rice wine)
– 1 teaspoon sugar
– 1 tablespoon bonito flakes (optional for non-vegans)
– 1 tablespoon green onions, finely chopped

**Preparation Steps**

1. **Prepare the Tempeh:** Begin by steaming the tempeh for about 10 minutes to soften it and remove any bitterness. Once steamed, let it cool slightly and crumble it into a mixing bowl.

2. **Mix the Ingredients:** Add soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, green onions, cornstarch, salt, and pepper to the crumbled tempeh. Mix well until all ingredients are combined and the mixture holds together.

3. **Form the Balls:** Using your hands, shape the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Ensure they are compact to prevent them from falling apart during frying.

4. **Pan-Fry the Tempeh Balls:** Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the tempeh balls, ensuring they are not overcrowded. Fry them until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.

5. **Prepare the Ponzu Sauce:** In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, lemon juice, rice vinegar, mirin, sugar, and bonito flakes (if using). Stir until the sugar dissolves. Strain the sauce to remove the bonito flakes and garnish with chopped green onions.

6. **Serve and Enjoy:** Arrange the pan-fried tempeh balls on a serving platter and drizzle with ponzu sauce or serve the sauce on the side for dipping. Garnish with additional green onions or sesame seeds for an extra touch of flavor and presentation.

**Conclusion**

Pan-fried tempeh balls with ponzu sauce offer a delightful combination of textures and flavors, from the crispy exterior of the tempeh balls to the zesty and umami-rich ponzu sauce. This dish not only satisfies the taste buds but also provides a nutritious meal option that can be enjoyed as an appetizer, snack, or main course. Whether you’re a seasoned tempeh enthusiast or new to this versatile ingredient, these tempeh balls are sure to become a favorite in your culinary repertoire.

Beliefs That Master Health Coaches Had to Let Go (and You May Need to as Well)

Some coaching tenets are instinctive (like being personable), whereas others are paradoxical and surprising.

Consider, for example, Motivational Interviewing, a communication method employed in coaching and counseling, which presents the idea of the “righting reflex.”

The righting reflex signifies the natural urge to help or “fix” a client, often by guiding them on how to adjust. This urge is especially pronounced in those who genuinely care.

It appears to be a praiseworthy impulse for a coach, doesn’t it?

INCORRECT.

Enter the contradictory domain.

Motivational Interviewing demonstrates how this altruistic inclination to assist can actually hinder a client’s advancement.

When we step in to correct, amend, or direct, clients often respond by becoming defensive and resistant.

When you nudge someone in the “right” direction, they may begin to defend the very behaviors they intended to alter. As a result, you find yourself advocating for change, while they argue against it. This causes mutual irritation, leaving the client feeling more trapped than previously.

Instead, adept coaches understand the importance of a curious stance as opposed to a corrective one. (They might even prompt clients to contemplate the notion of not changing!)

This exemplifies a counterintuitive skill that sets a good coach apart from an extraordinary one. Yet, it’s certainly not the only one.

Which brings us to our next topic.

We posed a simple question to some of Precision Nutrition’s most seasoned PN Level 2 Master Health Coach Certified coaches:

What’s something you were sure of early in your career that you later needed to unlearn?

Their honest and occasionally humbling insights are shared below, along with the wiser methods they adopted and are now conveying to you.

Lesson to unlearn #1: Engaging clients with a fixed structure prior to establishing rapport

The first lesson to unlearn comes from PN internal coach Jeremy Fernandes, PN2-MHC.

With over 14 years of coaching expertise, Coach Jeremy is known for his friendly, approachable, “speak to me like I’m your friend” coaching style. Ironically, he commenced his career relying heavily on a rigid framework that frequently distanced clients.

Here’s Coach Jeremy’s perspective:

“I used to think that being a coach required sharing all my knowledge with clients.”

In the initial days of my career, after a year or two as a personal trainer, a friend asked about nutrition coaching. My immediate reaction was to hand over all the documentation. And when I say “all the documentation,” I mean all of it—I probably gave this person 20 pages to fill out.

They didn’t complete them.

Three weeks later, I had to track them down, and we ultimately filled out the forms together, which took two and a half exhausting hours.

If it weren’t for those forms, we could have begun coaching much sooner.

Shortly thereafter, another friend knocked on my door with excitement: “Tell me what to do, I’m eager,” they said. I promptly extinguished their enthusiasm with those forms. It was quiet after that.

The problem was that I worked under the belief that my purpose was to draw out information and solve the puzzle, as if I had insights about them they were unaware of.

Regrettably, I continued on that misguided course for a while.

What spurred my shift was completing the Level 2 Master Health Coaching Certification.

During that course, I discovered a more effective framework—one that didn’t depend on mechanically extracting information.

I learned to allow the client to take charge, listening and posing a few thoughtful questions. This method functions significantly better—for everyone.

Now, I assume my clients know themselves best. One of my most significant questions is:

“What have you previously tried, what did you enjoy, and what didn’t you

How to Prepare Zucchini Lasagna Without Added Moisture

### How to Create Zucchini Lasagna Without Excess Water

Zucchini lasagna serves as a well-liked low-carb substitute for classic lasagna, yet a frequent challenge that many home chefs encounter is excess water. This can result in a wet dish that diminishes the overall taste and texture. Here’s a detailed guide to preparing zucchini lasagna while reducing moisture.

#### Ingredients

– 3-4 medium zucchinis
– 1 pound ground meat (beef, turkey, or sausage)
– 2 cups marinara sauce (ideally low-sodium)
– 2 cups ricotta cheese
– 1 egg
– 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
– 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Fresh basil or oregano (optional)

#### Instructions

1. **Prepare the Zucchini:**
– Rinse and dry the zucchinis. Trim the ends and slice them lengthwise into thin strips, approximately 1/4 inch thick. A mandoline slicer can assist in achieving consistent thickness.
– Sprinkle the zucchini strips with salt and arrange them on paper towels. Let them rest for about 30 minutes. The salt will draw out excess water. After 30 minutes, pat the strips dry with more paper towels to eliminate the moisture extracted.

2. **Cook the Meat:**
– In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground meat. Drain any surplus fat. Incorporate the marinara sauce into the meat and let it simmer for about 5-10 minutes. This will thicken the sauce slightly.

3. **Prepare the Ricotta Mixture:**
– In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and pepper. Combine thoroughly. This mixture will enhance the creaminess of the lasagna.

4. **Assemble the Lasagna:**
– Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
– In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce at the bottom.
– Add zucchini slices over the sauce, followed by a layer of the ricotta mixture, then a layer of mozzarella cheese.
– Continue layering (meat sauce, zucchini, ricotta, mozzarella) until all ingredients are utilized, finishing with a layer of meat sauce on top. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the final layer.

5. **Bake the Lasagna:**
– Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil (to avoid sticking, you can spray the foil with cooking spray). Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
– Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

6. **Let It Rest:**
– After taking it out of the oven, let the lasagna rest for at least 15-20 minutes before slicing. This resting time aids in setting the layers and decreases the chance of excess water.

#### Tips for Success

– **Choose the Right Zucchini:** Opt for firm, medium-sized zucchinis. Overripe zucchinis may contain more water.
– **Use a Baking Sheet:** If you wish to extract even more moisture, roast the zucchini slices on a baking sheet at 400°F (200°C) for about 10 minutes prior to assembling the lasagna.
– **Thicken Your Sauce:** If your marinara sauce is thin, consider simmering it longer to reduce its liquid volume before layering it in the lasagna.
– **Experiment with Cheese:** For deeper flavor, consider blending different cheeses or utilizing low-moisture mozzarella.

By adhering to these steps, you can craft a delightful zucchini lasagna that is flavorful and devoid of excess moisture, guaranteeing a satisfying dish that everyone will appreciate.

The 5 GLP-1 Clients You Will Guide (and the 2 You May Not… Yet)

Reviewed by Brian St. Pierre, MS, RD

“Is this medication going to replace my job?”

This was the worry for many health and fitness coaches when GLP-1 medications became widely accessible.

Even though semaglutide (Ozempic) launched in 2017, it initially felt like a theoretical worry. Prescription volumes were minimal, and few individuals knew anyone who was taking it.

Fast forward to 2026, and now more than 1 in 10 adults in the US are utilizing a GLP-1 medication. Most of us either know someone taking it or are using it ourselves.

As its application has expanded, views on the medication have evolved. Many coaches no longer see it as a danger but as a beneficial resource for certain clients, enhancing their coaching efforts.

Nevertheless, concerns continue, especially about the long-term wellness of clients on the medication. Issues such as muscle deterioration, dependence on a “band-aid” solution, and overlooking foundational health practices are notable.

Whether you are an advocate for or skeptical about GLP-1 usage, contemplate this viewpoint:

“As a coach, you’re not operating in the GLP-1 sphere; you’re in the GLP-1 support space.”

This observation from Kate Solovieva, Super Coach and PN’s Director of Community, highlights that coaches should concentrate on “individuals on GLP-1s who want support,” rather than solely those taking the medication.

It’s unrealistic to attempt to coach all individuals using GLP-1s, and fixating on those who misuse them is mostly unproductive. Some may not desire or require your guidance.

However, there is a section of GLP-1 users who are prepared, willing, and capable to accept your support. Focusing on this demographic is where you can truly create an impact and expand your business.

This article will examine seven distinct types of GLP-1 clients, each with different levels of coaching readiness. Utilizing our knowledge from over 175,000 clients (including a rising number on GLP-1s), we’ll outline strategies for each category.

Let’s begin.

The 7 categories of GLP-1 clients

A brief reminder: Individuals evolve, and readiness is not fixed.

A client who initially states “I’m okay on my own” might later express “I’m struggling and need assistance”—and vice versa.

When determining a client’s category, keep in mind it represents their current situation. Listen closely to their language during sessions and adjust as needed.

Generally, Coach Kate points out that individuals are ready for coaching when they show two main signs:

  • Their challenge feels significant, pressing, or distressing: They recognize the need to enhance their health at this moment. (“This is important to me.”)
  • They feel capable of investing resources to tackle the challenge: Whether it’s time, finances, or both, they are ready to commit. (“I have the ability to address this.”)

Keep this in mind as you interact with potential clients and as you review the client types outlined in the table below.

Ideal for a cool evening or when you require a swift and gratifying meal, this soup is both simple to make and delightful.

#### Ingredients

– **For the Soup:**
– 6 cups chicken or vegetable broth
– 1 cup orzo pasta
– 2 cups fresh spinach, chopped
– 3 large eggs
– 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 small onion, finely chopped
– 2 tablespoons olive oil
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Fresh herbs (like parsley or basil) for garnish

#### Instructions

1. **Prepare the Base:**
– In a large pot, warm the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent, about 5 minutes. Incorporate the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until aromatic.

2. **Add the Broth:**
– Introduce the chicken or vegetable broth and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, add the orzo pasta and cook according to package guidelines, usually around 8-10 minutes, until it reaches al dente.

3. **Incorporate Spinach:**
– As the orzo approaches being done, stir in the chopped spinach. Let it wilt for approximately 2-3 minutes.

4. **Prepare the Egg Mixture:**
– In a mixing bowl, whisk the eggs and grated Parmesan cheese until well blended. This mixture will provide the distinctive stracciatella texture in the soup.

5. **Add the Egg Mixture:**
– Lower the heat to low. Gradually drizzle the egg and cheese combination into the soup while stirring gently. This will create fine strands of egg throughout the soup.

6. **Season:**
– Sample the soup and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as required. Allow the soup to warm through for an additional minute or two.

7. **Serve:**
– Serve the soup into bowls and top with fresh herbs. More grated Parmesan can be sprinkled on top for added flavor.

#### Tips

– **Variations:** Feel free to modify this soup by adding other vegetables such as carrots or zucchini. For a more substantial version, think about incorporating shredded chicken or beans.
– **Storage:** This soup can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. However, the orzo may absorb some of the broth, so you might need to add a little water or broth when reheating.
– **Serving Suggestions:** Pair with crusty bread or a side salad for a complete meal.

Stracciatella soup with spinach and orzo pasta is a wonderful dish that brings warmth and comfort to the dining table.
